Hi all,
Myself and a couple friends at Microsoft are organizing a new casual group of hackers that meet to discuss and work on projects together. We don't intend to have an agenda or regular speakers, just a group of people getting together to toss around ideas and work on what we love. We have a website up: http://eastsidehackers.org. This Saturday (5/8/2010) I (and probably a couple others) will be hanging out at the Crossroads in Redmond from 3:30PM till at least 6:00PM. This isn't a formal meeting of the group, but rather a meet and greet. I know it's short notice so I don't expect a huge showing. If you're interested and want to meet up with us, just give me a call at 817-266-6867. I plan to establish a more regular meeting schedule with the first one being the following Saturday (5/15). If you can't make it to the meet and greet or first meeting but are still interested, please reply to this thread anyway so that I can get an idea for how interested people are in the group. Thanks, Zac |

Hello,
I saw this message posted to the SPUG mailing list and thought it sounded interesting. I'm a Systems Analyst with the pharmacy group at Costco's home office in Issaquah. We work with a variety of applications (even one COBOL app... :) on a variety of operating systems, so I think I would fit in nicely with the group. May or may not be able to make it on Saturday. Looking forward to it. - Ryan |

Hi Ryan,
Sounds great. Everyone is welcome so no worries :). Hope to see you there and if not this Saturday, the following one for a more "official" and less short-notice meeting. -Zac On 5/6/2010 6:40 PM, rycummins [via Eastside Hackers Group] wrote: Hello, |

Howdy,
Looking forward to the meet. Well I hope I can make it. :) I saw your message also on the SPUG list. I sent a question via Twitter for a specific location but I now realize you guys might be wandering around. Will you guys have a particular area you'll be orbiting around the 3:30 mark? I don't have a phone but I could probably acquire a burn phone or if they still have phone booths just call the number for a general location. Anyway I'm not looking or wanting for anything specific. But I thought it might be neat for possible mental shares if the opportunity presents itself. - blath twitter.com/blath |

I sent you a tweet but I'm replying here as well for the record as well. We should be around the area of the Cafe at the Crossroads. I will be actively "tweeting" to the account to make it clearer where we are. If you can get wifi you can check there as well should you not be able to track us down. That said, I will wear a University of Miami hat and sweatshirt. Look for a Green hat with orange U and the sweatshirt will be gray with "UMIAMI" in green and orange on it. Unfortunately divulging all this information will make it easy for the hitmen tracking me to find me. Oh well, price you pay for the games you play, right? Cheers! -Zac On 5/7/2010 11:02 AM, blath [via Eastside Hackers Group] wrote: Howdy, |

Fantastic. I'll be wearing a yellow and black windbreaker. Black shoes, jeans and some sort of grey shirt. :)
As for tracking.. don't worry.. despite seeing integrated live video (using bambuser.com ) on irlconnect.com their tracking only seems to cover cell zones. :D So you're safe... in a crowd. ;) Safe Travels, - blath |

Jeez... so now I'm expected to plan what I'm going to wear tomorrow in advance? I usually just go by whatever can be found in the "clean" pile that's not too wrinkly to be worn in public... ;)
Only thing holding me back from guaranteeing I'll be able to attend is the fact that I've been gifted with a Sounders ticket for tomorrow. If I do make it, I'll undoubtedly be late. - Ryan

:D
Well technically, from what I understand, the first meeting is next week. And tomorrow is just an informal meet and greet. Where as next week we get to wear hooded robes and sit around a table (at McDonalds cuz they have free wifi) and be mysterious whilst taking turns holding the " the wax caked candlebra of communications" and speaking in big booming voices. (whilst collectively hissing at little kids who happen to get to close) ;) (just kidding. kind of. plus we might run out of McDonalds that would let us in after a few months) Not that I'm saying don't go. But maybe stay as long as your able if possible, for example I may only be able to stay for an hour or two. I may actually arrive early cuz an out of state friend might be in the area/and heard I'd be nearby. So anyway that ticket cost something and your friend might be hurt if you don't go. Maybe in the spirit of the event. You can fill out and print out an InfraGard form ( www.infragard-wa.org ) whilst waiting for/ after the game. And later tell us how it went. I don't have a printer so I can't join. ;_; Oh and also I haz no skills. :( (so I use the printer excuse a lot) :/ - blath Traveller of the Many Paths. (I'd be hooded but my free Snuggie never arrived) |

Hi,
I was forwarded your email from a friend who had heard me complain that I was having trouble finding a good technology agnostic meetup group of like-minded people. I can't make it tomorrow, but I'll planning on coming if I can make one in the future. Ryan Burrows |

No problem at all. Today was quite mellow but we'll be having another
meetup next week, around 3:30 on Saturday. Location is still TBD.
Hope to see you there :) -Zac On 5/7/2010 10:24 PM, Ryan Burrows [via Eastside Hackers Group] wrote: Hi, |

Hi guys, it was really nice meeting everyone. :)
Sadly my photos didn't come out that well and despite repeating a few of your names.. I forgot them. I apologize for that. :D For more apologies, requests for names (or aliases if you wish.. like "Person #4 that blath forgot" and to view the 4 images that made it. I'm made a simple page at 08 May 2010 - Eastside Hackers Group - Meet & Greet Thanks a bunch and Thank you Zac & friends for this. :) - Klint aka blath |
